Skunk Eye Spar The tiki gods of the Tiki Gods were spotted out behind the little shanty tarpaulin of a little land-locked bar where strangers of the universe are widely-known to find their sips of solace in crazed cups in a spot called Skunk Eye Spar There's Tiger Lily at a low settee with her chubby Chinese chums. They're flirting with the spider monkey who tends to tend the bar. The kahuna from the basement carves the teeth away from gums of the skulls they leave upon the floor of rugged Skunk Eye Spar. NightHawk and the Vaginauts are haggling for their custom in the shadow of a bamboo go-down behind a cliff of vines. The grotesquerie of mugs that haunt the fringes of the dive monitor their odds for any luck between the lines. Foolbert Hic-Pipkin drinks his beans from a can, then tosses the empty vessel back into the lonely sea of stars, and joins the rumbling mumbling of the life assembled there for some unforgettable taste of beauty from inside those ugly jars. The White Devil is holed up there and he'll never get too far from the bleary scowls and robotic owls of this long-forgotten bar. White Devil is holed up there 'cause he knows he won't get far past the reprobates he cultivates in Skunk Eye Spar... ...where you can hear the oceanic echo of outer space... Popeye and B'wana Don were here when things were newer: before the fall, before the wall, before the inner scar. Jimgrim and Chullunder Ghose mapped the span of tomorrow from that table in the corner, there, converging from afar. The tiki gods of the tiki gods are hovering out behind the little ratty tarpaulin of a tiny land-locked bar where the loners of the universe are sometimes said to find a sip of solace with the crazed mugs of Skunk Eye Spar. The White Devil is holed up there and he'll never get too far from the furtive scowls and alien owls of his long-forgotten bar. White Devil is holed up there 'cause he knows he won't get far past the reprobates they cultivate down in Skunk Eye Spar.

Eastern Star 10:09
Eastern Star In character lies destiny and mine is all the more illumined by the lantern lights that brought me to your door. Where kindred spirits stumble to be the beacons that they are, and completion lies so near and still so far... I climbed this hill of my own free will and the order of the eastern star. Through character lies destiny and mine is all the more illuminated by the light that brought you to my door. Where kindred spirits stagger to be the beacons that we are, and completion lies so near and still so far... I walk this life for you, my wife, by the order of the eastern star I taste you in my breathing in the vapors of our days. I revel in my burning admiration of your ways. Auspicious are the emblems of all the loveliness we make, and back to you they'll guide me to if I die before I wake... and I'll remember... If character is destiny, then mine is all the more illumined by the lantern lights that lead me to your door. Where kindred spirits struggle to be the beacons that they are, and completion lies so near but still so far. I give this life to you, my wife for the order of the eastern star... you will remember...

about

"Quite awe inspiring, to be honest, as the textures and arrangements used are often quite inventive." Scott Homewood, www.rockandrollreport.com

Matt Howarth of www.soniccuriosity.com writes: "This release features 67 minutes of conventional rock music. Some conventional rock ‘n’roll. Rock-out guitar delivering riffs of an accessible nature. At times, though, the guitars adopt a progressive edge with nimble-fingered delivery. On several occasions, the guitar adopts an electric mandolin sound with sparkling crunch.

Electronics (mainly keyboards) providing slippery chords, often of an incidental nature, acting in support of the lead guitar. Percussion (natural and artificial) offering rhythms of a rock nature, locomotion for the songs.

The tempos are usually snappy, straightforward. Bass lines of the type found in usual rock tunes. Vocals, generally of a hushed spoken nature, that sometimes slip into understated crooning.

These compositions explore tuneage quite unlike Arnold’s usual fare, delving into more accessible venues. Most of these songs are short, but the last track is 12 minutes long, and offers a more progressive dose of tuneage, blending abstract mixing with prog-rock melodies."
